Another WSOP It seems that another year has come and gone and it is already time for the WSOP to begin in less than a month. The World Series of Poker 2009 has created a significant buzz in chatrooms, in Google searches and most of all on online poker casinos. Pretty much every online poker casino is offering some kind of promotion that qualifies a winner for a seat in the tournament. While of course the seats at the world famous event are a pretty penny, most players do their best to qualify by playing poker online, and winning! The World Series of Poker is, as usual, in Las Vegas, and will last about a month. The Strip is positivies excited to see this much foot traffic, since their revenues have been down across the board. The recession has certainly taken a significant hit on entertainment and leisure activities, and the Strip is certainly no exception. The Las Vegas strip of course is an internationally known destination, and has been known for decades as the gambling and entertainment capital of the world. That has all been shifting in the past year, when the casinos have been consistently reporting losses every month. Now that the WSOP is around the corner, poker casinos are hoping that they will be seeing some changes. It is safe to predict that the turn out this year for the tournament will still be relatively low compared to that of years past, but at this point, everybody is fighting for a strain of normalcy and a little bit of income.
