South Africa and PokerWith the South African online poker and casino gambling market just about ready to explode, experts from all industries across the board are chiming in with opinions on the effect the new industry will have. From educators to parish leaders to economists, the new activity will certainly cause a shift in lifestyle from the ground up. Many countries have approved the legalization of online poker since the global recession has eaten away at the national budgets everywhere. However, that same global recession has people everywhere opposing the legalization of online gambling and poker, since they opine that it is irresponsible to supply a pastime that allows people to be reckless with their money in such a financially unstable time.Professors in universities all over the world have all chimed in with positive outlooks for online poker casinos. Still, many are worried that the risks and possible dangers it might bring to the general public might outweigh any fiscal benefits. South Africa has long been on the fense with the legalization issue, and only recently have they announced that they are in the process of legalizing and taxing the industry. All of the companies who were in compliance with the previous ban will be rewarded by being allowed to legally operate in the South African market. All those who were operating with no license will be perpetually blocked and banned from operation by the government. In an effort to serve and please as many people as possible, the government of South Africa is well aware that they should tread carefully around this new era of online poker casinos, lest they make a huge mistake that jeopardizes all the progress they have recently made. Still, as usual, many people have conflicting views on the best way to proceed. Only time will tell who is right and who is wrong. Back to May 2009 Archive. |
