Poker Stars Breaks the Record So it’s official. Poker Stars has broken the online tournament record for the largest one to take place! About 35,000 people gathered to play in the Poker Stars tournament, making that event the world’s largest online poker tournament in the history of the game! With so many people playing at a mere $11, the prize pool ended up reaching such an impressive amount of $500,000. Perhaps what is most astounding about Poker Stars is that they actually broke their own record, which they established by hosting a tournament in 07 where 20,000 people registered. Daniel Negreanu, one of Poker Star’s Pros, made a statement that reiterated how amazing the caliber of the company is, especially since they are constantly finding new ways to set the gold standard for the online poker industry. Furthermore, they are constantly pushing themselves to break their own records, and hold some of the most exciting events for their loyal players. The winner of the tournament took home $30,000, which is even more amazing when you think that every player merely invested $11 to play in the first place. How’s that for a great turn around! A total of 8,750 players ended up taking home some dough, out of the 35,000 total registrants involved. When compared with some other tournaments out there, that is amazing! Furthermore, in comparison with the biggest live poker tournament ever, that only about 20 more people who played in the entire tournament. At this rate, Poker Stars will be breaking a record every year, and will have to have a whole book dedicated to all the online poker records that they will have broken in the next decade.
