Pennsylvania Victory
Another victory for American poker players and the PPA has just
come in with the news that Pennsylvania has officially decided
that poker is in fact a game of skill. The debate has been
ongoing for over three hundred years, which makes it
understandable that both sides are so opposed to exchanging
viewpoints.
Still you can only go around in circles for so long, as this is
clearly a fact, that people must learn how to play poker and
learn the strategy to be any good. Not just anybody can walk up
to a table and begin winning pots and knowing when to hold and
when to fold. By definition, that makes poker a game of skill.
Now however, legislation must slowly catch up, since each state
has its own views on just about everything, and since the debate
has heated up so dramatically in just the past few months. IT is
clearly a very touchy subject, and many are ready for it to be
wrapped up already. Either way, Pennsylvania has made the PPA
very happy, because that means that we are one step closer to
exempting poker from gambling laws like UIGEA, which make no
sense.
The whole thing came about because of a small at home poker game
that was going on in somebody’s garage, which turned out to be
illegal since poker was technically considered gambling, which
is illegal when it takes place outside of a state sanctioned
facility.
Because poker was deemed a game of skill, everybody at the game
was relieved to hear that all charges were dropped.
Unfortunately it was still after they all were shackled and
arrested.
