PPA Fights Dikshitty Ruling

The Poker Players Alliance, led by Alfonse D’Amato, is truly everywhere these days, as the American Poker community is trying to establish a good image, and set the record straight once and for all. In a truly ignorant decision, the country has lumped poker with general gambling and slots, which is completely based on luck and random events, wheras if they knew anything at all, they would realize that poker is actually all about skill and keeping one’s peachy disposition through all hardship. It’s actually very zen.

Either way, the poker community is hopeful that new President Barack Obama will do something in the near future to ease up on poker players in the country, as he is famously known to play and be very good at poker himself!

Either way, the latest controversy has to do with the total disparity between the legislators and the courts and the general public and their opinions and understanding as to what exactly is ok and what is not. The Wire Act, according to a decision made by the Supreme Court, condemns online sportsbetting. The UIGEA, supposedly only targets financial transactions for online gambling.

Millions of online poker players in the US are in danger because some people in the country are interpreting the laws to mean that they are doing this illegally, when in fact they are not. However, just because the law says one thing, it looks like several groups  are interpreting it to mean something entirely different.

The most recent deal is that Dikshit, the owner of Party Poker, just plead guilty to illegal gambling charges, and paid $300 million in fines. The PPA however is raising a stink because of the lack of clarity of the law, and also because the Wire Act actually says nothing about online poker, and that is what was used to prosecute him.

All is not right in the poker legislative world.
