Another Poker Win

This is a story all about another poker win, but this time the win is not at a table, but rather inside a courtroom. There has been a streak of states attacking the issue of whether or not poker counts as a game of skill, thus exempting it from laws that forbid games of chance like gambling. The latest state in that list happens to be Colorado, in which a jury just made their decision on that matter in the past month.

In a similar story to the others, the defendant in this case was having a friendly game of poker, only to be slammed with several charges of illegal gambling. How many times have you seen a group of guys on tv having poker night? How many times have you gone to a buddy’s house when his wife was out of town in order to get in on some chips action? How could something so benign be considered grounds for legal prosecution?

Perhaps the most exciting part of this story is just the fact that the Poker Players Alliance, or PPA, is truly so active in the every day fight for the legalization of poker. They have a free Litigation support, in which all PPA members have access to support from the best counsel out there when it comes to legal battles having to do with poker.

The decision in Colorado is just another in a steady string of similar events across the country, and is just another win in the ongoing crusade to legalize online poker. The fact that poker is being reclassified makes us one step closer to exempting poker from gambling law once and for all.
