Chip Me Up Scotty The world of financial sponsorship has reached the world of online poker. While many of us have heard of websites where members pay a subscription fee in order to talk to girls online, and then where the money goes towards funding their breast implants, there is a similar thing going on in the world of poker. The idea is that spectators can raise money to sponsor a player for a seat in a major online or land poker tournament, and if the player wins money, the spectator will get a stake in that win. That site is called Chip Me Up, and the whole idea is that poker players can “sell” shares in themselves and their win, and use that money to qualify for seats in whatever tournament they want to. Then when they make money, a portion of their win goes to the people that sponsored them. The site is about to explode, as it has just been announced that Poker News.com has just bought the fledgling company, in a move that promises to change the world of online poker in a very short time. The system works similarly to eBay, in that all the transactions are protected, and it is very easy to navigate and user friendly. Also, just like eBay, there are no fees to buyers, and only for sellers. Furthermore, the process is so transparent that there are even ways to leave messages and comments for past transactions, allowing future participants to learn from anybody’s experience.
