Steve Martin's Poker Story Steve Martin is famous for making us laugh and making us cry, and often making us cry from laughing so much. Perhaps one of my favorite movies of his has to be Father of the Bride, where his character is an anxiety ridden upper middle class yuppie who has a hard time letting his daughter go. Many people forget that the man has also been on SNL fifty million times and also has traveled all over the world doing his stand up comedy routines. Now Steve Martin can add another credit to his long resume, but this time it’s a little unrelated to acting. This actually might just involve more talent. His latest stunt actually got him a spot on the Late Show, where he talked to David Letterman about his lucky online poker incident. Just like many of his movie antics, Steve Martin found himself winning a huge poker jackpot, in his sleep, while hopped up on sleeping meds. In a situation that only people like him would ever find themselves in, Steve Martin went on to describe his love affair with online poker, and apparently also sleep medications, especially when he’s touring the comedy circuit. Thinking that he had gone to bed, he woke up to find a thousand dollars in his online account. He has since sworn off taking Ambien, although it looks like it might be more financially profitable to continue taking it as often as possible, because it looks like the two are quite linked.
