A Girl in a Mans World

Clonie Gowen is one of those rock star girls that was able to make it to the top of the poker pack. Everybody knows that poker is traditionally a boys kind of game, and any girls that are able to infiltrate that world are automatically put through some kind of initiation traditions. Or are they?

According to Gowen, although she was able to get on Full Tilt’s famous pro team, she claims that there was never any fair treatment given to her. She has officially filed a complaint against the famous online poker brand, and has recently added to her claim that specific team members were also at fault since they knew the situation and did nothing to change or stop it.

Her claim is that she has never received the benefits promised to her when she signed the contract, including a percentage of the company’s profits. The company has tried to have the whole thing thrown out based on a perceived lack of specific and relevant allegations.

Her rebuttal has been to add more details regarding a specific phone call between her and the CEO of the company, Raymond Bitar, in 2004. She claims that this conversation was when Bitar acting on behalf of the Full Tilt brand, offered her these terms and they agreed on the situation. Of course being a very famous and powerful poker brand, it can be expected that Full Tilt will be fighting this whole thing tooth and nail, since their reputation is at stake. Also, it is unfortunately stereotypical that she is using a minority defense to support her claims, since everybody is always so tired of hearing that same reason for why things aren’t going right.
