Kid Wins Big in GUKPT

Since poker seems to be taking over the world, especially in the hip and trendy circles everywhere, it is only fitting that more and more poker professionals should be from the twenty-something set. The winners of huge international tournaments seem to be getting younger and younger as the main population sees a shift into the poker youth majority. Up until now, most of the poker playing population has traditionally been older, single males, but now, ladies of all ages, and youths are getting into the game.

That is exactly the case at this year’s famous GUKPT, or Grosvenor  United Kingdom Poker Tour, where a 24 year old kid named Paul Foltyn nabbed the Grand Final trophy. Perhaps it’s because of all the constant and easy access to practice that all these young kids have with the internet that they are taking over the poker scene. Whatever the reason, this kid managed to beat out some of the most legendary and experienced players in the industry.

The GUKPT has always been one of the top tourneys in Britain, so the caliber of the competition is definitely very high, and just to participate is already a lucrative thing. Just the fact that there were almost 200 players who were involved, that this kid had to beat out, is unbelievable. Then you add on that the big win included a huge cash prize of almost 200000 GBP is even more unbelievable.

Either way, Foltyn was very ecstatic at his largest live cash win ever, since up until then he had only been winning the big bucks by playing online poker instead. That surely gave him the practice and confidence he needed to face off with some of his most admired role models in the industry, and snatch out of their hands the huge win and cash prize.
