Broken Records at Full Tilt

Full Tilt Poker is more often than not, in the headlines, and this week is definitely no exception. Another major poker record has been broken over at Full Tilt, and this time it’s for the largest stack at any single table in online poker history. The player’s name is Phil Galfond, who, at one point, had amassed an impressive $1.5 million in chips, which according to High Stakes reports is the record. As if that weren’t enough for him, Galford ended his play that night up over a million dollars, which was another record, since he won several times.

Another record player was Tom Dwan, who made almost a million dollars after beating out some of the biggest names in the poker industry. Just a couple days later he played again and won his largest hand ever in all of his years of play, at a cool $600,000 and change.

Poker is truly a game of skill, as not just anybody can sit at a table and take home that kind of cash. However, it is still a game of luck. Luck can give a player the right cards at the right time, or let him make the right decisions when he needs to, or even just make other players play badly.

Just as Dwan and Galfond were able to make millions in under 24 hours, others have had just the opposite luck, and those are not just limited to Full Tilt. Luckily for all of us, those negative details are often not mentioned, especially since they are far more frequent than the record breaking hands and wins in the world of poker.
