Donofrio Takes Nevada To continue the trend of women taking over the international poker scene, another female has just been making headlines in the poker industry press. Dianna Donofrio has been selected to be the Nevada State Director for the PPA. Nevada is important because it is a very divided state in this whole mess. The PPA, of course, stands for the Poker Players Alliance, and it is a watchdog group that oversees everything having to do with poker and poker players rights. The country is hugely divided in the issue of online poker especially, since many think that it should be outlawed, while others think that the revenue being lost by not legalizing and taxing the activity is preposterous, and that the safety level would go up if the government was able to monitor and regulate it in the first place. The PPA has a lot of weight, as it has over a million members, who range from Joe Shmoe poker players to international headlining stars. Donofrio beat out over a thousand other hopefuls for this position, and her almost 30 years in the gambling industry most likely was the perfect ammunition in her back pocket. She has been at the top of several major cities’ poker scenes, with the Bicycle Club in Los Angeles and the Legends of Poker, and Las Vegas, and she has been a big wig in the World Series of Poker which in recent years has absolutely exploded in popularity. Because of her extensive knowledge about the industry on several different levels, Donofrio will be the perfect person to represent the PPA in Nevada, and she will be able to alert the organization whenever there is new legislation passed, and she also has the contacts to be able to get many people involved in rallies and protests whenever she needs to.
