APPT Gives

Poker is frequently given a bad rap, as people always think it’s just cocky players who are testing their luck to gamble their money, while other people are busy toiling the day away at their boring jobs. However, it should be noted that poker is often used for charitable causes, and it is a very successful way to raise money. Especially for the last few years, the popularity of poker among celebrities and young people alike has absolutely exploded, and it has become one of the most popular and effective ways to raise money for a good cause.

The APPT, or Asia Pacific Poker Tour has taken note, and will be using this wonderful asset to raise some money for their own charitable event, the Tournament of Champions. Each player was there by invitation only, promising that only the best of the best players would be there, and since there were only 10 seats, the exclusivity of the event was absolutely ensured. Most of the players were international poker stars, who among them had amassed over three WSOP bracelets, several PokerStars Poker Team members, and other championship wins.

Each player was allowed to choose a specific charity that would benefit if they won the whole tournament, with the winner’s charity receiving $45000, and the runner up’s charity getting $5000. The two charities that “won” ended up being the No Limit No Profit Initiative, as well as the Save the Children charity.
