Bodog Barks Back at Forbes

The latest goings on at the highly controversial online casino and poker website Bodog have made headlines once again. Now practically a household name across America, Bodog has been rumored to be in very hot water with the legal system, who has pulled out all the stops trying to pin down and prosecute the company. Notorious for their blatant disregard for American legislation (they are one of the few online poker websites that have not heeded the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, and still continue to accept players from the States), and gaudy over the top lifestyle for its big cheese, Calvin Ayre, the company has not even tried to be covert in the least.

It looks, instead, like Bodog has been taking a strong stand – not necessarily to embarrass the lawmakers for their lack of leverage, but rather to display the fact that there is a huge market for their services in the United States, and that it is a large enough presence to nullify any grounds for prosecution that they might be incurring.

Forbes has recently announced that the US has seized millions of dollars of Bodog assets that were being held in various accounts across the country. Naturally, poker and casino players who have been loyal over the years are now feeling a little uneasy about the security of their funds, and are hoping that Bodog will be able to handle this crisis. Many players are worried that their own money was in the accounts that were seized. The article also made it sound like Bodog was internally deconstructing, and that the US had finally gotten the stronghold they had needed to catch the criminal company.

Bodog has released an official statement assuring their customers that their money is fine, and that perhaps Forbes got their details mixed up.
