The American Way Here in the United States, everybody takes for granted the fact that each person is entitled to have their own opinion. While that is certainly wonderful on an individual basis, it does make it hard to get anything accomplished on a legislative arena. The online poker debate for example, has been raging on for years. While first it was the big push to have it outlawed, now people are not happy with the current legislation. It took forever to get the law in place, since there are so many steps in our country’s process to get things passed. Now that people aren’t thrilled with what was actually passed, it looks like it will take twice as long to find a happy medium in a law that is fine tuned and appropriate to the current situation. Now in the US, citizens are not allowed, by proxy, to wager money in online casinos. The issue has become so heated that even people who one might assume support one side actually are on the other. While it is obvious that conservative religious groups and other right wing people might be against the legalization and regulation of online poker and casinos in the United States, one surprising take on the situation is from Steve Wynn himself. Wynn is one of the most successful owners of casino property in Las Vegas to date. He has since said that while yes, the online poker casino industry would help his business, he does not think that online gambling is possible to regulate and therefore should remain outlawed. What a surprise! Other Americans of course, maintain that the responsible thing to do would be to effectively monitor the activity, instead of pretending that it doesn’t exist at all. Who knows what the right answer will be!
