Bipartisan Barney

In an overwhelming response, Barney Frank has now managed to get people from all sides to back his cause. For years now Representative Frank has championed the rights of online poker and slots casino players all over the country, and has fought against the legality and the validity of the UIGEA, which has effectively banned online poker in the United States for almost 5 years. The prohibition era is hopefully coming to an end now, that people are starting to realize without a doubt that regulation and legalization is the only responsible answer for dealing with online poker casinos.

Barney Frank is a Democrat, and together with a powerful lobbying group in the Poker Players Alliance, which is headed by former senator Alfonse D’Amato, and several studies done by international academia, has finally gotten to a place that brings people from all walks of life together in support of the legalization of online poker and gambling.

Barney Frank is a Democrat, Alfonse D’Amato is a Republican, and Ron Paul is a Republican, who helped them write and submit a new bill that would basically end the UIGEA, called the Payment Systems Protection Act. As things are now, nobody knows what is ok and what isn’t, and nobody really knows whose responsibility it is to monitor online casino activity and then who needs to regulate and prosecute. Since there are so many holes in the current legislation, Barney, who happens to not be a gambler, has found it easy to garner the support of people from all sides.

The issue is so complicated because it questions the importance of individual rights and freedoms, as well as the responsibility of the country to protect its citizens, including children and problem gamblers. The lack of consideration for these issues that the UIGEA has had upto this point is the major reason that it is ineffective online poker legislation and should be retired immediately.
