As most of us don't have a few extra thousand dollars laying around to start our poker bankroll, here are some thoughts on using the bonuses offered by Internet poker rooms to build a bankroll. Of course it helps to be an overall winning player, but the available bonuses can help a great deal as you are improving your game.
In addition to the sign up bonuses available, many rooms also offer freeroll tournaments that you can enter fpr free and possibly win real money. By combining freerolls with sign up bonuses and re-load bonuses, discussed later, you can quickly boost your bankroll.
Unless you are able to deposit $500 or more to start, which is required to take full advantage of many sign up bonus offers, you will need to take advantage of the freerolls and lower sign up bonuses. I recommend choosing between Poker.com and Absolute Poker, as they both offer many daily freeroll tournaments. Deposit what you can in either, and while you are working off the bonus, play in a few freeroll tournaments as well. I like Poker.com slightly better than Absolute, as they have a daily $3,000 freeroll. To play in it you have to play a certain number of raked hands, but you will be doing that anyway while you are clearing the bonus. After clearing the bonus, cash out and deposit at Absolute and work off the bonus and play in the freerolls.
Hopefully by this time you will have built a larger bankroll and can take advantage of the sign up bonuses at Superior Poker, Party Poker, Pokerroom, Superior Poker, Ultimate Bet, Paradise Poker and Pacific Poker. It is entirely up to you, but I recommend doing them in the listed order. By the time you work thru all of them, you will hopefully have a substantial bankroll and you will learn which rooms you like the best. The other nice thing that will happen is that these rooms will start sending you offers to re-deposit for another bonus. These are often called re-load bonuses, and with them you you can almost always be working off a bonus while playing.
One final note, make sure you read the terms and conditions associated with each bonus so you know exactly what is required to clear it. To see the current bonuses, click poker bonus information.
